The Power of Process
Every coach is unique, but there are three coaching models: normative coaching, breakthrough coaching, and process coaching. All can be helpful, but I’m a process-oriented coach. Here’s why.
Normative models of coaching aim to help people “get with the program.” They come from a particular perspective on the “right” way to lead, parent, live, love, relate, and so on—and help people adopt that perspective, too.
Normative coaching models are helpful, but they force every client into a one-size-fits-all framework. That means something isn’t going to fit. Clients end up feeling inadequate, misheard, and resentful. Not to mention stuck.
Breakthrough models promise to deliver solutions quickly. Like chiropractors who can deliver instant relief to someone in chronic pain, this coaching focuses on serving up enlightenment on a schedule. Every conversation is life changing.
I want my clients to have life-changing conversations, too. But breakthrough models center on the coach’s magic ability to deliver peak experiences instead of the client’s needs. They also leave out the hard work clients need to do themselves between sessions to make those insights stick.
Which is why I emphasize process coaching. As a process coach, I draw from the wisdom of normative approaches and help clients find real breakthroughs. The difference is the focus, which is always on you. Not my expertise.
We work carefully and compassionately, knowing it can take weeks or months for new habits to stick. That's why my package is 12 sessions.
But because we work together longer, the impacts are far deeper.
Imagine walking into your office without feeling like you need to shut your door to keep the toxic mess from flooding in.
Imagine getting back to where you could see everyone—the people in your programs, your team, and most of all yourself—with the compassion they deserve.
Imagine enjoying collaborating with other people and organizations without getting bogged down in clashing egos and dueling priorities.
Imagine being able to unplug and recharge with your loved ones because you no longer feel selfish for caring for yourself.
Imagine knowing that, despite all the ways you feel you’ve fallen short, your passion, drive, and effort have changed people’s lives for the better.
Getting there takes work. But it happens. Are you ready? Book your free Discovery Session here.
